The SCGA Foundation has provided professional development opportunities for five college interns, who have volunteered more than 1,000 hours to the Foundation while earning college credit.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better experience while working for the SCGAF,” said Chris Pope (pictured), who recently ended his internship with the Foundation after receiving a full-time position with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. “Over the past eight months I have been attending graduate school at Cal State Long Beach, working on a masters in Sport Management. I have worked plenty of sporting events, which is great, but the SCGAF internship provided me with valuable sport management experience that I had yet to receive. The time I spent at the SCGAF and the information I learned has definitely helped with the transition into my new position as Sponsorship Account Executive with the Quakes. It was definitely time well spent.”

Currently, the Foundation has a Development Coordinator Internship position available, which would give a young individual incredible hands-on experience with event planning and management, grant-writing, networking opportunities and more.

“The Foundation’s internship program has been able to introduce current and recent college students to both the nonprofit and sports sectors,” said Executive Director Kevin Gigax. “These young people have been able to give back to us tremendously in supporting programs like Youth on Course and major fundraising efforts.”
